Seeking OUTSTANDING writers for a growing resume and career services agency with prominent clients nationwide. We have been in business for four years and our plates are overflowing. We are seeking top quality contract writers who are interested in delivering top quality work and earning additional income from home. We have developed a proven process for clients and our word of mouth business is extraordinary for this industry.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous professional writing experience. Who are we looking for? First and foremost – we are looking for the strongest writers who can help our job seeker clients pull together their story and personal brand. If you have resume writing experience – fantastic. But we are also open to experienced journalists, PR writers, business writers who can appreciate the need to quickly get to the point, and are willing to be trained on our methods to service job seekers in all industries. Ideally you have a degree in journalism, PR, English, or mar-com and/or at least 5 years of professional writing experience and samples to share
  • Strong understanding of various job functions: You have been around the block in your own career, are familiar with multiple tiers within the corporate structure
  • You are able to follow our training and methods on developing materials that highlight results, not only tasks/duties, to create accomplishment/results-focused resumes
  • Impeccable attention to detail – we expect your draft to be error-free from typos, grammar issues, and expect you to use proper tense and executive language
  • Ability to work remotely: You should have the required set-up at home – with a high-speed internet connection, working computer or laptop with updated software programs that you know how to use with ease
  • Advanced technical proficiency with Microsoft Office and specifically Microsoft Word (and have used the editing tool track changes before), a camera (for face-to-face meetings with our team) and email systems and a reliable working mobile or landline phone
  • Time management skills: You are diligent about staying on schedule, and extremely organized, able to prioritize your workload based on deliverable schedules
  • You cannot subcontract the work we provide you to others – no exceptions

Preferred:

  • Proven experience as a professional resume writer
  • Background in recruitment or career counseling
  • A solid understanding of different job functions including support, technical, professional and executive roles – writing for applicants in a variety of industries including tech, marketing, operations, manufacturing, healthcare, nonprofit, education and more
  • Knowledge of various resume formats (functional, chronological, academia, CV, etc.) as well as ATS software applications

Expectations:

  • Your hours will vary based on the volume of work you can assume. While WE have set business hours – you don’t need to. As long as you are able to meet all deadlines ahead of schedule, you set your own hours
  • Turnaround time and availability: We ask that you be able to adhere to turnaround schedules established – and that you be available at some point during normal business hours to discuss edits, and/or new projects with us. (Our hours are Mon-Thurs 9am-7pm Central Time, and Fridays 9am-5pm Central Time – we are closed on weekends)
  • We will compensate you for training time or any additional webinars or group discussion needed of you to complete the work
  • Pay is determined based on your writing background and success, and the outcome of a writing/cognitive skills test we will ask you to take, if you move forward in the hiring process. Note that our co-owner has worked as a freelance writer and therefore we can quickly recognize quality talent and work ethic, and are committed to providing an appealing pay structure for our valued writer-partners.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Writing resumes from scratch with client-provided data, within selected formats
  • Resume 1st draft delivery required in established turnaround schedules – based on information and data provided to you
  • In the beginning, we will perform all edits. However, once we are confident that your work meets our quality expectations and the level of excellence for which we are known – your work will also include performing all edits to the materials produced (and of course this means a rate raise for you). We want our writers to get to this place as quickly as possible so we can continue to grow our business, and your income
  • Once we finalize the resume (including all edits) – you would complete remaining documents
    • Would likely include the cover letter, follow-up letter, references page & summary section only of LinkedIn profile

  • A zip file of 2-3 samples of YOUR original writing work OR a URL to your online gallery, portfolio or LinkedIn which contains samples of YOUR work
  • With your email and resume, please let us know how many hours you are available per week and specifically what schedule you are available during CST business hours
  • In your email please tell us briefly why you want to do this work and what makes you the perfect hire for our company
